A man with gray hair and glasses sitting on a dark leather chair, looking at the camera with his chin resting on his hand. He is wearing a dark sweater over a maroon shirt and a black watch.

Nick Whitesides is a neurodiverse writer, musician, and audio engineer located in South Ogden, Utah. He’s composed over 700 original songs, independently released multiple albums, and collaborated with many local artists. Now Nick has turned his pen towards writing YA fiction. His current works involve characters who learn to manage mental health challenges while exploring themes of perseverance, love, family, and hope.

Being the seventh of eight children, (four of which were adopted from Mexico) his unique upbringing—coupled with an ADHD diagnosis at a young age—provided a broader outlook on life thanks to family diversity. Creative outlets helped Nick to steer his wild imagination into a superpower, enabling him to craft unforgettable stories.

Regarding his brand of story telling, Nick says, “While hearts can’t think and brains don’t feel—I write from the place where they meet in the middle.”

POV OF YOUR NEXT READ!

Book cover with the title "We Thrive Together or Die Together". The cover is black with white caption and red and blue lines. It contains a blurb about a character named Kryz and a nuclear disaster in the year 2340. The ISBN barcode is visible at the bottom.

Three hundred years ago, the bombs fell. Thankfully, Krys is safe in his encapsulated city, Pura. He is fed, housed, and secure. In return, he’s required to work each day as a dependent and contribute to the city’s survival. Krys is content. Or is he? Krys doesn’t wonder. The laws called IRIS strip away a dependent’s right to feel, think, and speak freely. In Pura, We Thrive Together or Die Together. What are you willing to sacrifice for absolute security? Are you willing to forfeit your humanity? Is Krys?
